This ancestor must have provided distinguished service to the colonies in any of the following capacities: leadership, offices held, land ownership, military or naval service, etc.

Founded in 1890, it is one of the oldest and most prestigious lineage societies in the country. The organization's primary mission is to promote the study and preservation of American history and heritage, particularly the colonial period.
