Thomson Hood Veterans Center

Thomson-Hood Veterans Center is a 285 bed long-term care facility that has served more than 2,782 Veterans from all branches of the armed forces since admitting the first resident on August 25, 1991. Thomson-Hood is the largest facility operated by the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs. Thomson-Hood, along with it’s sister facilities in Hazardand Hanson, forms KDVA’s Office of Kentucky Veterans Centers

Joseph Ballard Western Kentucky Veterans Center

The WKVC is a state operated facility within the Department of Veterans Affairs, which is headed by a Commissioner who answers directly to the Governor. The WKVC has a Veterans Advisory Council that provides input concerning the needs of the veterans, is kept informed about facility policies and reports to the Joint Executive council of Veterans Organizations. Nursing Care, 30-bed Special Care Unit, physical, speech, and occupational therapy, lab, pharmacy, library, barber shop, laundry and physician services.
